“Formed in early 2020 in Perth – WA, through a mutual love of numbers and odd-time signatures, Number Junky is a guitar-led trio that plays warped jazz standards and rhythmic number-crunching original music while retaining a focus on lyrical melodies and lush harmony. Led by Kristian Borring he is joined by the skilled rhythm section of Zac Grafton (Jamie Oehlers and Grievous Bodily Calm) on double bass, and Peter Evans (Lucky Oceans, Steve Hensby) on drums – both originally from the Eastern states, now established players in Perth. The trio performed at Perth Jazz Society and was featured at Strings Attached Festival 2021. Supported by Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in Western Australia, the trio’s recently released debut album contains Borring’s original compositions and modern arrangements of Charlie Parker tunes. New York pianist Fabian Almazan is also featured on selected tracks.”
